Whitemoor Prison is a major employer within Fenland. It is important that recruitment of staff is effective to both help keep prison officers safe and protect the interests of the public given its high security status.
Concerns regarding the excessively bureaucratic nature of the current recruitment process have been raised with me by local prison officers.
At his first appearance as Justice Secretary. I asked that the Government to look at the concerns raised and review what changes are needed? I will update further once I hear back from the Justice Secretary
