Still no answer for local patients regarding X-ray services
Mystery continues over needless journeys which Fenland patients are having to make for X-rays, as NHS managers continue to refuse to give basic answers.
Before the summer constituents got in touch with me to explain that services previously offered in Wisbech had been moved to Norfolk, because the X-ray equipment at the North Cambs hospital was considered outdated and inferior.
Since then I have raised this more than once with Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Integrated Care Board (ICB) who are responsible for buying new equipment and commissioning health services. Yet they are refusing to answer, whilst also prioritising funding for new services elsewhere. For example, whilst not replacing new equipment in Wisbech they are building a new Community Diagnostic Centre in Peterborough on top of the other facilities already there.
I believe people in Fenland should be told what the new X-ray equipment would cost, whether there are any plans to update the X ray equipment this year, and if not, why this is not being prioritised.
If you are affected by having to go outside of Fenland for X-ray services or concerned about the loss of local services, please let me know via stevebarclay.net/contact so I can update you as and when the ICB CEO Jan Thomas replies.
