Steve Barclay on a farm visit

As Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Steve Barclay put in place further support for farmers hit by flooding and exceptional wet weather over this winter.

This will benefit farmers across the country, including in North East Cambridgeshire which is one of the most important centres of sugar beet growing amongst other crops.

The Farming Recovery Fund has been significantly expanded to include a wider geographical area of farmers who suffered river flooding. It now also includes those who experienced damage due to extreme rainfall.

Eligible farmers will receive the recovery grants of up to £25,000 from the Rural Payments Agency and will be contacted directly.
