Six weeks ago I set out detailed concerns with the failure locally to secure community contributions from housing developers. Specifically there is a lack of transparency on what has been paid, poor coordination between the local council, county council and the NHS, and the contributions that are secured are often woefully low. Yet perhaps unintentional making my point for me, council officers have still not replied other than a holding reply email.
Enclosed is the latest example of why this matters. New housing promised in Manea, yet a failure to secure funding for the much needed Manea pavilion. The parish council is right to be angry about this.
I am now calling on all councillors in Fenland, both at district and the county council, to demand transparency on this important issue from officers. Residents deserve to have clear information, and our area should not be a soft touch for developers unwilling to make reasonable contributions to the community
