The government has confirmed this week that British drivers of electric vehicles will be charged for driving on foreign roads, with the extra tax starting within the next two years.
The initial cost is said to be 3p per mile for fully electric cars, but the new Prime Minister has already talked about the need for people to pay more in tax.
This means that, in addition to the tolls often paid on European roads, residents in Fenland will be taxed a second time for driving on roads the British Government has no responsibility for maintaining.
