I wanted to share the latest information following the recent updates about Barton Road and the delays that residents have understandably been frustrated by.
We’ve now been informed by Anglian Water that the works are in their final stages, and the plan is to reopen Barton Road by Wednesday evening.
The team is completing the final steps to get the road safely back into use, including:
Preparing the road surface
Final resurfacing
Adding new road markings
Removing the temporary trackway near the care home
Tidying the area and clearing any remaining traffic management from nearby roads
Although the road itself will reopen, work will continue in the land beside the road and at the pumping station. This includes connecting the care home to the network and upgrading the existing pumping station, with activity continuing into later this year.
This is very welcome news after the road has been closed for such a long time, and I know how much disruption this has caused locally. Thank you to everyone for your patience throughout the delays.
