Are you a patient in Fenland that uses dialysis, or do you know anyone who does?

I have been raising with health bosses locally what additional treatments could be delivered on the Doddington and North Cambs hospital sites, given they are more convenient for residents to use rather than facing the time and cost of travelling longer distances.  One specific opportunity I identified was regarding dialysis,  and the below reply from Jan Thomas, the Chief Executive of the body that commissions health services, is encouraging.

The letter confirms that the current dialysis services offered at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in King’s Lynn, West Suffolk Hospital (WSH) in Bury St Edmunds, and Hinchingbrooke Hospital (HH) in Huntingdon will no longer be provided there after 2027 and they will be looking to relocate these services locally.  The current services are also running at capacity, so it is timely to look at new facilities, and they say they want to look proactively at community sites.

I am therefore calling on local councillors and others with a voice to support the location of dialysis services in Fenland. It will also be helpful to hear from any patients who have used dialysis services previously or their relatives, so I can better demonstrate why these services should be located in Fenland.  Please let me know

The letter from Jan Thomas is enclosed below.
